Sirius Star® 80

Sirius is the brightest star in our night sky, and was the standard star for the color white in ancient China. The ancient Greeks believed that Sirius's appearances heralded the arrival of the hot and dry summer months. It was described as “flaming” in literature.

Sirius Star®...the world's brightest diamond® features greater scintillation and increased light return, improved brilliance and higher visual appeal than any other round shape. There are currently three round shapes in the collection:

  • Sirius Star® 80 features 80 inclined facets (octagonal main facet design with four-tier pavilion). All the facets are indexed and inclined to present the maximum actual and virtual facet definition. Sirius Star® 80 is available in sizes up to 1.49ct.
  • Sirius Star® 88 features 88 inclined facets (octagonal main facet design with four-tier pavilion). All the facets are indexed and inclined to present the maximum actual and virtual facet definition. Sirius Star® 88 is available in sizes from 0.70ct. In Chinese culture, the number 8 is one of the numbers believed to have auspicious meaning, because its name sounds similar to words that have positive meanings- “prosper” or “wealth”. In some regional dialects the words for “eight” and “fortune” are also similar. There is also a visual resemblance between two digits, “88″, and ?, the ”shuang xi” (“double joy”), a popular decorative design composed of two stylized characters ? (“xi” meaning “joy” or “happiness”).
  • Sirius Star® 100 features 100 inclined facets (decagonal main facet design with four-tier pavilion). All the facets are indexed and inclined to present the maximum actual and virtual facet definition. Sirius Star® 100 is available in sizes from 1.50ct.
